The Tyrone Police Department acquired a new Judgmental Use of Force simulator from Ti Systems in 2016 as part of our continued commitment to providing better services to our community through training. The simulator is used to train officers in all aspects of use of force to include verbal commands/de-escalation, OC, Taser, Handguns, and Rifles. The unit is also capable of simulating low-light conditions through an integrated IR flashlight component.
Assisting Other Agenies
Simulators are expensive and we understand that they are not readily available to every agency despite the importance of the training they provide. Consequently, our simulator and operators (all POST Firearms Instructors) are available to other agencies upon request (trainees must travel to our facility).
Each session will consist of a discussion on judgmental use of force and all trainees will be subjected to at least three scenarios. Students will receive one (1) hour of POST Credit for "Judgmental Simulator Training" (IFJ04G). We will also provide your training officer (or other designee) with a Training Report for your records.
Simulator Features:
Our system is equipped with over 600 interactive video-based scenarios in which officers will use verbal commands, OC, Tasers, Handguns, or Rifles as dictated by the actions of the subject in the video. All integrated firearms provide recoil and are round limited for the most realistic training possible. The unit also contains several non-scenario options such as the GDAC course, plates, and shoot houses, etc.
Instructors/Sim Operators:
Lt. Philip Nelson
POST Firearms Instructor, Glock Armorer, AR Armorer
Sgt. Drew Moorman
POST Firearms Instructor, POST Use of Force Instructor, Glock Armorer, AR Armorer
Sgt. Jacob Collins
POST Firearms Instructor, Taser Instructor
Your instructor(s) will depend on your training needs, the date of your training, and/or general availability.
